Where else would it all begin

It all started with a monkey. A monkey in a video I saw on the Internet. I don’t know its name. I read that I have to do an extensive research before I get started with writing a book like this. So I tried. I cannot say that I did not find it, I just found too many like it, to the point of, I do not know which one was the one that I saw when I saw it. The video and what happened in it has just coalesced into many ideas and theories that I come up with and so there is a chance I am remembering the video as something extraordinary while it may have been totally random. It happens. How many ideas or memories do we have, that is not unpolluted by our imagination?
Well, let’s shift focus to what I remember happened in the video. So the monkey. It finds this specific weird looking rock and picks it up. It then decides to smash it onto random larger rocks and trees and on the ground around it. The rock doesn’t look like the one you would have pictured when I said it but instead it has this weird shape which can be better explained by telling you how the monkey started to look inside what seemed to be a crevice on it. It seemingly put its finger inside it as if to nudge something out of it. Then without much thought, it brought it down and started to put its penis inside the crevice and I have no clue if it was a successful effort but he definitely got to it and started to thrust the rock onto its penis a couple of times.
I think it is safe to say that he is not that fast because he stopped and ran towards a tree, climbed up on it, the rock still in its hand. Now this is such a corrupted perspective I am giving you. I do not have any clue what it was thinking, how it thinks or anything about its reasoning whatsoever. But it looked like the monkey liked the rock and it wanted to save it for later maybe. The tree has to be its home right? That serves my narrative - so yes. It took its treasured toy home after playing with it. The video then showed it just randomly running around, jumping. I do not suppose the rock stayed where it was kept but the monkey definitely did not give a shit and I seemed to and I am certain a lot of you are wondering the same thing too.
Here I am telling you about what should sound amusing about something a monkey did or should I say, something most monkeys do. But how much more assuming is that some of us are thinking about that rock, whether the monkey lost it, how that concern seem to dominate other thoughts.
A little later in the video, more monkeys came in. There were kids and females, some with babies and I guess grandparents too because some of them looked like - they seen it all and even looked at the camera, totally nonplussed. I would not really know if it is a grandparent though but hey I like to think that way. Humor me, come on.
The whole takeaway from the video; the thoughts which were rather immediate to me after the video ended was how eerily similar I am to that monkey. When I say ‘I’, I mean you as well so don’t smile too much. Look at it, it did everything we do as humans. It represented us, regardless of gender bias or whatever.
Let me explain what I apparently observed and understood,
Monkey is bored out of its brains
Monkey finds a toy
Explores it, pushes it to see all its functionalities
Got creative, used it for pleasure, whether as just a toy or as a sex toy
Monkey is definitely kinky, alright
Monkey tried to save it for a later time; successfully or not successfully.
Monkey has no plans to share it
Monkey probably forgot about it and got back to doing monkey things.
Eating, playing, going in search of food maybe (the video didn’t show much of this monkey eating while several others did)
The whole monkey family came and when they did monkey looked like it was so busy and active scouting you see
That’s not all. I am sure you are sitting there thinking ‘Oh hey what if the monkey was only trying to fix an itch he had, what if he was not masturbating like you are trying to imply.’
What I am saying is, why does it matter because it is still so similar to us.
Look at us in our diverse types and differently sized caves, living in it, bored out of our minds, doing what we do. I mean look around you. Tell me how many of the toys are around that you saved up for later. It could be a smart-phone or your play station or that soft toy that you cuddle. It could be a pet that you do not always realize has a life of its own and just squeeze it like it was born to accept your squeezes. Do not forget how you take a picture of it and post it on your social media or whatever.
Look at us. Colored the inside and outside of our caves, of course we started building caves long back and we prefer the nomenclatures like - house, hut, mansion, palace, bungalow. But there is so many among us who just want something really unique so a cave sounds just perfect that way. Everything seem to be like how the monkey picked that rock, the bottle I have next to me with water. The specific pen I have next to me on this leather bound journal I have in front of me.
There is no part of me that is going to go all of a sudden and say something like we need to learn from the monkeys. The solidarity, the sharing, the non sense we are capable of. What I would rather do is more like remind you that - if you take away everything from inside your head on how you process, on how you see things and the macrocosm of our perception and sentience, if you take all that away, what are we. How small are we? How fickle are we? How primal are we? How similar are we? How dependent are we? How loathsome are we? How annoyed with each other are we?
