Can you imagine?

Can you imagine a world where we resort to thinking, where we just think about making things better while being apathetic to our own and our fellow humans’ amplified expression of suffering.

If we were to behave like computing machines, we just might solve every problem but we would start a bloody war to rebel against such an existence.

Shit I think that is loosely the thread to most of the machines take over kind of movies. Or the movie Equilibrium (2002). It told that story with some implicit hints at politics I suppose. I don’t know. I won’t research that side of it.

Words and the definitions people give to it has only always gone up and more expansive. Identity politics and group identity, both on paper are effective at identifying and associating with a sense of community and togetherness with a shared objective or goal for common welfare. However, nothing has separated people more than it. For every group or a movement or a stand, something has always come up against it. Something has to.

Look at how stories have evolved. I mean fiction itself provides a sample size so rich. We need more than one protagonist and antagonist and then now we have all those scales where there are Chaotic Good and Chaotic Evil, Neutral good and Neutral Evil, Good Good and Bad Bad and so much more. You have seen that already. The rise of antiheroes is a celebration. Villains can no longer be ‘Oh I just want to shit where you eat because I am BAD’. Villains now have very credible motivations, very deep and philosophical ideas. Villain’s have justifiable reason to do what they do and they take the hero on such a ride before they win. You could say like the great villains are changing the heroes for us.

We are looking for greater villainy, aren’t we? While we also hope our heroes can rise above and save us all. That is a lot of misplaced faith and too much pressure. We are as a race still devoid of superheroes or real heroes for that matter

I have heard a part of the above statement that I made somewhere before. It’s not so original, but is definitely not understood enough I guess. Besides, why am I talking about heroes when I am going to preach next about how the idea of a hero is not fitting in a world like today. Once again fiction presents proof for this hypotheses. Look at the absolute conundrum presented in all of the superhero franchises.

Thanos and Ultron both agree that humanity or sentient life’s problem is only solved by its eradication(loosely summarized, forgive me)

What looks like a political struggle in Captain America Civil War(you can say I conveniently interpreted that way and I am so silly to do that and I will say - yeah you are right)

The Boys - it’s an epic bat shit crazy piece of art. You could not have humanized superheroes any more. They are fucking up left and right.

Even Superman is so humanized. Brain-wise superman is not super, it’s only strength and fitness wise.

I told you about Batman pretty convincingly, he is dexterous but he is not wise.

But you see, there are wise beings and if they are on the good side, they are like getting away as fast as they can. I am a fan of Dr Manhattan and well just look up what he ended up doing when he understood humanity.

You could look at Vision in Marvel and well I have not scoured through any of the comics like I must but it is not like he has a better solution than the others. In fact, I think he is if anything, forgiving.

You know Joker obviously.

What kind of fickle am I to use fiction and compare it to reality? That is a question one of you or some of you are asking right now. I am as fickle as a human being. That’s as far as I can tell. Please find it in your heart to accept unless this is the sole entertainment you could use to distract your from the dread of existence.
